The Super Bowl Honeymoon Phase Died Today; Here’s Hoping Carson Wentz is Back Tomorrow
There is no such thing as a good loss. People who believe that are losers or live in Cleveland, or both. The Eagles performance on Sunday in Tampa was lackluster and fundamentally ugly. Yet, it seemed to be the back to reality shellacking our team and fan base needed to end the Super Bowl honeymoon phase. Losing to Tampa Bay is the day you know the magic, (especially the Nick Foles backup magic) has ended. Speaking of magic, “Fitzmagic” is the absolute worst catch phrase/slogan. Where I was going with this before I got re-pissed about Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing 400 yards against us, was that we need the face of our franchise back.
Doug Pederson said in his post game presser that he will have a Wentz update tomorrow. I’m just going to go out on a limb here and say that the guy got medically cleared for contact. If Doug announces he has an announcement and then doesn’t make the announcement we want to hear, well that would be a shitty thing to do. It would be like Instagram saying they have an announcement on putting posts back in chronological order, only to say they are not putting posts back in chronological order.
Every NFL insider has been hinting at the potential of a Carson Wentz comeback next Sunday against the Colts. They have basically been pulling the stint Woj did during the draft where he didn’t “announce” the picks before the commissioner.
My return goal for Wentz had always been end of September. I do not want to bump it up because of a head-scratching loss to Tampa. But if he’s ready, let’s get it. I can only see so many more 4 yard passes from Nick Foles to Nelson Agholor.
If he’s not ready, that’s fine as long as he’s still on pace with rehab. I’ll just keep watching old highlights and prep myself for never have to lose to THIS again:
