REPORT: The Sixers Will Be Playing The Celtics On Christmas Day and The Rivalry Is Thriving
The NBA will be announcing its much anticipated Christmas Day games today at 2pm. But, let’s be real here, this is the social media age, you could probably find out you were going to die on Twitter before it happened. So, with that being said, we kind of already know who will be playing, so let’s just act surprised:

It’s not even football season and I’m already excited for this game. For starters, this will be around the time we hear Zhaire Smith had a medical setback and will be out longer with no timetable for return.
Plus, there’s something intriguing about watching a Philly team play on holidays. It’s the perfect excuse to avoid awkward small talk with relatives you only see on special occasions. “Hey grandma, I’m still not sure what I’m going to do with my life, I can’t decide on a major and I have no plans on getting married soon. Thanks for asking but the Sixers so your inevitable holiday questions will have to wait”.
If you think back to last Christmas, it was a very mentally unstable time but probably a turning point. The Sixers went from Embiid’s “yeah, you probably should play him three overtimes” affair to beating the Knicks at the Garden right after opening presents. They never looked back. Then, the brick cold weather has us questioning whether Nick Foles or Nick Sudfeld should start as the Eagles barely beat the Raiders that night. They never looked back either. Ah, if only we knew what was coming once 2018 rolled around.
This year, the opponent for the 76ers on Christmas Day is a little bit more formidable than the train wreck they call professional basketball in New York. The Boston Celtics. If Marco Bellinelli’s foot is two inches further back, we had them. We freakin had them.
Now that Lebron is a Hollywood producer playing basketball on the side out West, this could be an Eastern Conference Finals preview. For some (delusional) fans, the Celtics could be a title contender this year:
Celtics roster is so unbelievably deep. Honestly think they can contend against the Warriors

The internet can hate Kevin Durant all it wants, if you think Gordon fucking Hayward is guarding him in a 7 game series, there is no type of psychoanalysis that can help you.
As a biased Philly fam, I am not sold they could beat us in 5 again. As I currently renovate all my real estate on Markelle Fultz island, I’m ready to run it back with the Eastern Conference Semi’s a year ago.
Christmas Day this season could be a solid litmus test to see how much our sons of The Process have grown.
