What A Weekend In The City Of Brotherly Love

What a time to be alive in the City of Brotherly Love. But, what a weekend we just had down at Pattison and Broad. Pro sports in Philadelphia are booming and they don’t look to be stopping anytime soon.

To start the weekend, the Phillies entertained the Marlins for a 4-game home series. It was a big series for multiple reasons for the Phillies. First, they are in a tight battle for 1st place in the NL East and cant afford to lose ground facing opponents with worse records then them. Second, it was alumni weekend. Alumni weekend was split into 3 different ceremonies.

First, it was the “Flying Hawaiian” Shane Victorino retiring as a Phillie on Friday night. Then, it was the induction of Phillies great GM Pat Gillick and the late great Roy Halladay to the Phillies Wall Of Fame on Saturday night. And, the weekend was capped off by the Phillies honoring the 10 year anniversary of the 2008 World Series Champion team.

Oh yeah, to cap things off, it was a 4-game sweep for the Fightin Phils off of 2 big late inning wins. Thursday night off the bat of Maikel Franco and Sunday off the bat of Asdrubal Cabrera.

Great time at the Bank this weekend and the fans showed up in numbers and showed their love and support for the Phillies of the past and present.

But, the weekend didn’t end there.

The Eagles hosted there Salute to Service open practice night at the Linc on Sunday Night. And boy did Eagles Nation show up to support their Super Bowl Champions.

This was a perfect way to cap off a stellar weekend in the City of Brotherly Love. The Eagles are all about giving back and supporting their fans, and this was a perfect way to do just that.

But, the fans weren’t the only ones the Eagles gave back to on Sunday. The Eagles players had a special moment with the men and women of our great nations military after the practice was over.
