Markelle Fultz is Receiving a Ton of Optimism From Sixers Fans and He Owes It All to One Man…Chip Kelly
When was the last time you sat and thought, “Wow thank the lucky stars for Chip Kelly”? I think this every day and thank the football gods for giving him to us.
Optimism isn’t something that is generally commonplace in the City of Brother Love and I am now going to explain why all of us Sixers fans are bathing Markelle Fultz in it.
Follow me children on this wild ride. Try to keep up.
Our journey starts on March 4th, 2015. The gift from God, Chip Kelly who had assumed all power of GM from a shell of Howie Roseman traded LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for Kiko Alonso. The seed is laid.
The story picks up again in March of 2016. The genius who put this whole, calculated plan in motion had decided to step down at the end of the previous season because his work was done and he thought it was time for him to be unemployed, make awkward TV appearances and eventually get hired in the NCAA years later just like he planned. Howie Roseman, acting exactly as Kelly had planned, traded Alonso and Byron Maxwell to Miami for the 8th overall pick in the 2016 draft.
Fast forward another month to late April and the pieces are still falling into place. Roseman traded a package of picks previously acquired, including the 8th, to the Browns, just as Kelly planned, for the No. 2 overall pick. Howie then used this pick to select Carson Wentz of North Dakota State just as Chip Kelly planned.
In a near Nostradamus-esque feat of psychic ability, Chip Kelly knew that Wentz would lead the Eagles to be a Super Bowl team in his second year. I continue to be floored at how Chip Kelly knew all this and made all his moves intentionally to make this happen.
The Super Bowl victory, brought on by Wentz thus also by Chip Kelly since he is responsible for drafting Wentz…essentially, changed the city. It brought about a sense of optimism that maybe things can work out sometimes and maybe every seemingly big move won’t be as nightmarish as Jonathan Papelbon.
The story ends now, the summer of 2018. Drew Hanlen told us all to get excited, and we are!

We’re all ready for Markelle to dominate and we’re all certain his shot is back because of this newfound optimism.
And who would have ever thought that all of this would be because of Chip Kelly’s calculated, psychic, strategic decision making. So, on behalf of everyone from Philly and Markelle Fultz….
Thank you, Chip Kelly. We owe it all to you!
