A Massive Win for the Phillies, and I’ve created the greatest nickname ever

By: Aaron Black

Last night was undoubtedly one of the biggest wins of the season for the Phils.

After losing 4 straight and the Braves playing a shitty Marlins team, the Phillies easily could have lost hold of first place in the NL East.

It was only a 2-game series , but what these 2 games meant was something much more than a late July split. A young, unproven Phillies team went into Fenway Park against the hottest offense in baseball and held their own. Trying to be objective as possible here, but we were one idiotic play by Odubel Herrera away from taking both of these games. 22 innings of baseball against the Red Sox and a total of 3 runs given up from Nola, Arrieta, and the bullpen is beyond impressive.

But last night felt different, last night felt like this team took a massive step from posturing as a pretty good team to a legit contender. The Phillies could have been victim of losing 5 straight going into an off day and wondering if maybe, just maybe, they should have traded for a big piece at the deadline, but they didn’t.

A clutch hit in the top of the 9th by Carlos Santana gave the Phillies an insurance run, and a little more breathing room for Seranthony. I could write for days about Seranthony Dominguez, I LOVE this kid. Humble brag, I’ve been high on Seranthony for months now (check my Twitter to verify @aaronblack25). A guy who can come out in the 9th throwing 98-100mph is so fun to watch. After letting the first two batters on base this was not looking good and I was ready to cry, but Seranthony delivered. A strikeout, a Mookie Betts pop up, and a 100mph dart dotted on the black to seal a W and a split in Boston had me so fired up. I’ve thought of a nickname and none of you can steal it, are you ready, ok here it goes “Blurrrranthony” cause, ya know, he throws fast and stuff. Anyway, what a momentum win for a young team!

Give me more Seranthony, Give me more big moments for this team, Give me More W’s, GIVE ME PLAYOFF BASEBALL!!!!
