The Sixers Sending Mikal Bridges To Phoenix Was Absolutely HEARTLESS
The night began for the Philadelphia 76ers in the most anti-climatic way possible, drafting Villanova small forward, Mikal Bridges. It was the safe pick, it was the pick every mock draft had the Sixers making. What a pick! Mikal Bridges finally gets to play for a team that’s actually in Philadelphia, and the Sixers get the wing help that they need. On top of that, we get this beautiful moment between a son and his mom. A mom, who works in the Sixers HR department!
Mikal Bridges and his mom were so excited when he got drafted by Sixers.

Then, the Sixers remembered, hey we’re the Sixers, this is too dull. Not only is it the Sixers, but it’s the Sixers during the draft so everything needs to get turned on its head.
Sources: Suns have traded Zhaire Smith and 2021 Miami first-rounder to 76ers for Mikal Bridges.

Wow, another kid being ripped away from his mother and forced to live at the border. It is a cruel, cruel world will live in. This has to have hurt more than that lady who took a hot dog off the face at the Phillies game the other day.
As for the trade, I can’t say I’ve seen Zhaire Smith playing live too much because I don’t often watch Texas Tech basketball. I am still partially convinced that Texas Tech is not a real place. It’s just a computer simulated roster that pops up so the Big 12 has enough teams to keep its conference together.
Smith seems like a freak athlete and the ode to Sam Hinkie by getting a first round trade chip three years away was very touching. I think Brett Brown can explain the draft night move in less than 10 seconds:

He mine as well have got, “WE ARE TRYING TO TRADE FOR KAWHI LEONARD” tattooed on his face, it would have had the same effect.
What a night. As always, I’m proud to be a fan of the circus we call the Sixers. I do feel bad for Mikal and his family though. I can only assume this is how his mom is leaving work for the weekend today:
