19 Runs and A Lot of Vomit Later, The Phils Are 37-32
Alright, the Phillies hung on to win yesterday, 10-9 over the Brewers. After taking 2 out of 3 in the series, the Phillies now sit at 37-32 on the year. Now, let’s stop pretending we care and get to the real eye grabbing highlight from yesterday’s affair:
Adrian Houser finished his warm up pitches and threw up behind the mound. Brewers grounds crew is now tending to the mess left behind the mound. Brings me back to the sawdust days of elementary school.

This blog post is not to make fun of any excretion of bodily fluid coming from Adrian Houser but rather to let him know I stand in solitude with him. My irrational fear has always been chucking biscuits in school or at work. Just walking down the hallway or in the office and boom: projectile vomit. For Houser, I really feel for the guy because during the two minutes I forced myself to watch this video, he throws up multiple times and at one point I am pretty sure he eats it. God bless. We’ve seen rain delays, squirrel delays, delays caused by streakers getting tased in the outfield, but never a delay because the grounds crew has to clean up puke on the mound. The cherry on top of the sundae that Houser tasted twice was that he actually stayed in the game and finishes the inning. He gave up a run during the inning but I respect the mind games he was playing with Jorge Alfaro by eating his throw up before pitching to him.
Baseball should really look into more peculiar happenings like this because I’m more interested in grainy Luka Doncic YouTube videos than I am 9 innings at the ballpark. Maybe all the batters should play dizzy bat before stepping up to the plate. Just spitballing here.
As for the Phillies, yesterday was another win that didn’t feel like a win. They barely survived another 9th inning Hector Neris collapse as he gave up four runs and two home runs in the inning. I hate taking a negative approach to a game in which Rhys Hoskins continued on a tear and Odubel seemed to be getting his swagger back. But, you can kind of see what the ceiling is with this team. People are upset Gabe Kapler inserted Seranthony Dominguez early on and then needed him in the 9th. I don’t hate his “I’ll use him where I need him” strategy. If you run into trouble in the 7th, there’s no guarantee you make it to the 9th. The problem is the lack of talent in the bullpen, and overall, hinders that strategy from being effective. If you plug one hole, another opens.
Even so, the Phillies have fallen ass backwards into a pretty solid record and all of the pitchers can keep their meals down, so there are a lot of things to be excited about. Sorry, Adrian Houser, a shot of Pedialyte in your honor is called for.
