Howie Jumps Dallas To Draft A Dallas In Dallas
Had enough of Dallas yet?
Well, this Dallas is accepted in the Eagles organization.
With the 49th pick, the Eagles selected TE Dallas Goedert from South Dakota State.
Goedert is a powerful 3-tool TE. He is an excellent run blocker, good pass blocker, and an extremely good route runner. According to Todd McShay, Goedert is the most underrated player in the draft. He will complement Zach Ertz perfectly and give the Wentz-Wagon another weapon to throw too.
The Eagles had the 52nd overall. However, with the announcement of Jason Witten retiring, the Cowboys were in need of a TE. Dallas had the 50th pick.
So, in true Howie fashion. Howie traded up 3 spots to jump the Cowboys and draft the tight-end the Cowboys wanted to replace Witten.
Trade Details…
Eagles – 49th overall
Colts – 52nd overall & 169th overall

Player Profile by Lance Zierlein
“Goedert is a very talented pass catching tight end with the ability to work all three levels of the field. His ball focus and ability to make the spectacular catch will make him the darling of fans and media throughout the draft process, but, he still has work to do. Goedert dominated a lower level of competition and will have to prove he can uncover and block against bigger, more explosive athletes as a pro. The size, speed and talent is there for him to succeed as a very good combo tight end if he works and plays with a little more urgency.”
