Is Villanova a Philly School?
On the cusp of Villanova’s second national title in three years, the burning questioned has to be asked: Are they even a Philly school?
The minute they wheeled Sister Jean’s decrepit ass off the court on Saturday night, Villanova three pointers started falling. It was as if the casual viewer could feel how overwhelmed Kansas was by the onslaught that was Villanova’s offense. If it weren’t for the Notre Dame’s women’s team knocking out UConn on a buzzer beater, and then winning the national championship on a buzzer beater two nights later, Villanova’s performance would be the only headline. After hitting a Final Four record 13 three’s…the half ended. It was a three point barrage from start to finish as the Cats jumped out to a 22-4 lead and never looked back.
Grant Hill trying to make this feel like a game
“Kansas can settle down here and start a run”
*Nova 3*
“If Kansas can get a stop and then attack the basket”
*Nova 3*
“Kansas is right in this and can get it down to single digits if they hit 15 shots in a row”
*Nova 3*

Now, Michigan gets its chance to defend one of the most efficient college offenses ever. If they fail, Nova brings another title home. Are they technically bringing that title back to Philadelphia? #EmbraceDebate
Me if Nova loses: Not even a Philly school, I’m completely unphased by this outcome
Me if Nova wins it all: PHILADELPHIA IS THE CITY OF CHAMPIONS. WE HAVE TO SHUT THE CITY DOWN EVERY OTHER DAY TO HAVE A PARADE SINCE WE’RE SO GOD DAMN GOOD AT EVERYTHING. THIS IS THE GOLDEN AGE

NO: If Villanova wins on Monday night, it will be a great moment for Lower Merion and Radnor Townships. This isn’t a Philly team, this isn’t a Philly moment. Don’t let the posters on the side of Wells Fargo Center fool you, this isn’t a Villanova town. Nothing about Jay Wright’s $5,000 suits (as Bill Raftery says) embody the blue collar mantra of Philadelphia. Yeah, it’s cool to root for a team that’s close, but it doesn’t have the zing of La Salle’s southwest Philly floater.
YES:
If you’re celebratory championship parade is at City Hall in Philadelphia, you are probably a Philly school:
Plus, for a city that until recently had been starved of championships, shouldn’t we claim any title we possibly can? The Eagles finally taking the Super crown has me yearning an infinite amount of championship contention. Two titles for Villanova in three years on Phillys resume builds our level of superiority to obnoxious levels. With each Ben Simmons assist, I feel myself becoming an insufferable Philly sports fanatic; too smug to even allow Donovan Mitchell’s name in the Rookie of the Year discussion. Let’s latch onto what Villanova is doing and the beautiful brand of basketball they play, and rack up the championship celebrations. We’re fucking Title Town now baby.
