Torrey Smith Has Been Traded and We Say Our Farewell
Welp, Howie does it again. Anyone who was a part of the Eagles Super Bowl Team will forever be immortalized and will forever be in our hearts. Torrey Smith is certainly a guy who embodies this view. Did he have his ups and downs with drops and such? Certainly, but he was a piece. Smith made a significant impact on the offense in the postseason and was one hell of a locker room guy.
We all knew going into this season Torrey Smith was probably a one and done player so the move isn’t shocking. If you asked me a few days ago about Torrey Smith; my money was on a release to free up cap space. But, Howie has proven again he doesn’t dance, he makes money moves.
Being able to get what most people are calling, Carolina’s best corner last year who is a Philly native and just 23 is simply amazing. The Eagles called Carolina, said here’s our fifth best receiving option, we will take your best corner so we can save cap space and have a nice day.
The corner back position that was looking like the gaping hole is now turning into, next to the D-Line, possibly our deepest position. Week 1 last season, Ronald Darby’s foot was dangling off his body and we thought the secondary could be a death sentence for an otherwise talented team. Fast forward and now a unit of Darby, Sidney Jones, and now Darryl Worley will be lots of fun next year. And oh ya the finger-waggingmachin
As said earlier, Torrey Smith will always be a name you will relate with this Super Bowl Team. His flea-flicker TD Catch will be one that will live in Philadelphia lure forever, and many would thank that arrant Nick Foles throw in the NFC Divisional game that went off a knee and landed in Torrey Smith’s hands that sparked this Super Bowl Run, well maybe only me.
There are more moves to come and anyone who was apart of last years team that leaves will always sting, but hey that’s part of professional sports.
Regardless, thank you Torrey Smith. You’ll never buy a beer in Philadelphia again.
