Stop Making A Big Deal About Cutter Gauthier Missing Development Camp

I hate that I even have to write about this because it shouldn’t be a thing but of course there are people out there who need to make things a bigger deal than they are.

So earlier this month Flyers 2022 first round pick Cutter Gauthier decided to not attend development camp. We originally thought he was unable to attend due to some NCAA rules but a couple days ago he was asked about it and the above tweet was his response.

Philadelphia has such a toxic fan base sometimes and it’s crazy how some people are so quick to think so negative of a player before learning the whole story.

The kid has played a lot of hockey this past year and wanted a little break to spend some time with his family. People do remember he is only 19 years old right? So honestly good on him for taking some time for himself and wanting a mental break to spend quality time with his family.

He’s got a big year ahead of him with Boston College and most likely will be playing for team USA at the World Juniors come December. He’s going to be playing a lot of hockey once again and taking a break from a development is not that big of a deal.

Plus, based on some of these highlights from the World Junior Summer Showcase I think he is developing just fine…

He is going to be just fine and is going to be a huge part of the Flyers franchise going forward. So please let’s not get on this kid for skipping a development camp to get a little rest and spend some time with his family. Some Philly fans need to be better.
