Report: Wells Fargo Center & City Of Philadelphia Discussing Fan Procedures

The Wells Fargo Center, the home of the Flyers & Sixers, has only seen media present at games since covid shutdown the United States back in March of 2020. But, could that change in March 2021?

According to multiple reports, the Wells Fargo Center, on behalf of the Flyers & Sixers, sent a proposal to the City of Philadelphia. A proposal that would bring fans back as early as next month.

On Friday, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer first reported the proposal.

Back on February 3rd, the Wells Fargo Center took a major step forward in welcoming back fans. Receiving a Well Health-Safety Rating from the International Well Building Institute.

That safety rating, now three weeks later, has led to the Wells Fargo Center submitting a proposal to welcome back fans. Which should have fans back in attendance for the latter part of the Flyers & Sixers seasons.

Something, according to a source familiar with the situation, that seems to be moving fairly quickly.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the City of Philadelphia has reviewed the proposal & is currently discussing procedures with the Wells Fargo Center. Something that could move quickly & have fans at the Wells Fargo Center by early-March.

The source continued by saying “we hope to have at the very least 12.5-15% capacity when we open the building back to fans.”

While the proposal to the City of Philadelphia was for 5,000 fans, the number allowed, as the source pointed out, is expected to be closer to 2,000-2,500 fans, which is 12.5-15% of capacity. Which, at the moment, is the national rate.

No matter what the number is, it seems fans will be back fairly soon. Possibly in two weeks time.

Looking forward, with a mid-March timeline, here are possible first games with fans for the Flyers. March 7 vs Capitals – March 9 vs Sabres – March 11 vs Capitals – March 13 vs Capitals.

The last time fans were at the Wells Fargo Center was March 11, 2020 for the Sixers vs Pistons. Last Flyers game with fans was March 10, 2020 for the Flyers vs Bruins.
