Shake Milton Saves Sixers From Another Disaster in NBA Restart

The stage was set for another disaster. The undermined Spurs we’re about to upset the 76ers thanks to 43 4th quarter points. In what was supposed to be a smooth bounce back game for the Sixers after a terrible first game against Indiana, turned into another infuriating game in the Bubble from Hell. The Philadelphia Phatalism in every Philly fan was strong in the closing minutes of this game with visions of losing out in the NBA Restart and the Playoffs, wishing they blow up the team and start over.

The mood was pretty much summed up by this Liberty Ballers tweet.

But then . . . Shakes!

After going scoreless in the first game and getting into a shouting match with Joel Embiid, Milton looked into that adversity and found some grit inside. And down by 2 with under 10 seconds left Milton hit the biggest shot of his career so far.

Now up by 3 with 6 seconds left, the Sixers survived a nail-biting defensive stop thanks to stop key blocking by Embiid, and thankfully didn’t foul a Spur and send them to the free throw line. Just as it seemed they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory they snatched a victory they were lucky to have.

Forget all of those bad thoughts about the rebuild we emotionally invested five years of our lives being over, Trust The Process is back! For now.

Just as there were concerns after the Indiana game wondering if this was a needed wake-up call or a tone setter for the NBA Restart, more questions pop up after this Spurs game. Will the Sixers recognize how lucky they were to win this game despite blowing a 14 point 4th quarter lead and work harder to secure games they should win? Or will this turn out to be an anomaly in these seeding games and the team just raised our hopes up only to break our hearts again?

But as of right now, Shake Milton just shook off his shaky start as a starter.
